The New Year signifies that the time has arrived
to bid Farewell to the by-gone year and to welcome the New Year. First New Year
has celebrated in the month of the March in Vernal equinox in 2000 BC Roman
calendar designated March 1 as the New Year. The calendar has only 10 months
which starts with March. Later it was celebrated on January 1 in Rome in 153
BC, Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar in 1582. Gregorian
calendar was not used in all the countries except Europe. Other states like the
United Kingdom and the United States used Gregorian calendar in 1752, in which
11 days were dropped. Till now some countries will not follow the Gregorian
calendar. But in India and other countries who are following Gregorian calendar
will celebrate the New Year on January 1. Some people will celebrate New Year
on Diwali.
